Website and identity for Mara Vell, a portrait photographer working with film and natural light. Archive of eleven years of commissions, prints and a booking form for sittings.
Art direction
Dark backgrounds, slow fades and a single serif. The site steps back so the prints carry the weight. Every page uses the same two tones taken from her darkroom notes.
Typography
One display serif at a single light weight, set in capitals for names and in sentence case for captions. A mono face carries dates, formats and print sizes.
Negative space
Each image sits alone on the screen. Margins grow with the viewport instead of the photo, so a portrait never fills more than two thirds of the height.
Print matter
Letterhead, print sleeves and a price card for sittings, set in the same two faces as the site.
