Gyeol Munhak
Gyeol Munhak Publishing, founded in 1956, publishes the monthly literary magazine Gyeol Munhak, first issued in January 1957, together with books of fiction, poetry, essays and criticism.
The magazine reached its 836th issue in October 2026 without a single missed month. More than six hundred poets, novelists and critics have made their debut through its new writers program.
Each year the Gyeol Munhak Prize honors one work of poetry, one of fiction and, every third year, one of criticism. The prize anthologies are published every December.
Since 1985 the house has published single-author books under the gyeol books imprint. In 2004 it opened morae books for genre fiction and translations, introducing writers from Europe and Latin America to Korean readers.
